Learning Outcomes

The main goal of this curricular unit is to allow students to acquire nuclear a knowledge base related to the pathologies of aging: Characterization of cognitive function in aging; Characterization and classification of neurodegenerative diseases and main forms of dementia; Cognitive patterns of neurodegenerative diseases; Principles of neuropsychological assessment in aging and pathologies of aging.

Characterization of cognitive function in aging. Neurodegenerative Diseases. Dementia: Definition, diagnostic criteria. Dementia: Epidemiology. Major types of Dementia. Cognitive and behavioral assessment. Diagnostic assessment methods and biomarkers of major forms of dementia. Case study.
