Learning Outcomes

1. To know neuropsychological assessment tools including those with studies in Portugal

2. To learn how to articulate data from specific neuropsychological test manuals with data from theoretical and empirical recent research with these tools in different neuropsychological assessment contexts

3. To identify key issues of theoretical, technical (administration, scoring), psychometric, interpretative and ethical nature related to the use of neuropsychological tests based on the analysis of the test manuals and published research.

Syllabus

1. Application assumptions, psychometric parameters, advantages and limitations of the following neuropsychological tests used in adult and aging neuropsychological assessment that assess intelligence (WAIS-III); specific neurocognitive functions, namely memory (short term memory, working memory, episodic and semantic long term memory; WMS-III; BVRT, CVLT-II, CVMT, HVLT-R, P&P, RBMT-II, CamCog-R, CANTAB, D&P, RAVLT, TEMPau); reduced effort (TOMM).

2. Child and adolescent neuropsychological evaluation with Coimbra Neuropsychological Assessment Battery (BANC): Functions (and relating tests): Orientation, Memory (Word Learning Lists, Story Memory, Rey CFT, Faces, Corsi); Atenttion/ Executive Functions (Toulouse and Piéron and Zazzo cancellation tests,  Trail Making Test; Semantic and Phonemic Verbal Fluency, Tower of London); Language (Token test, Rapid Naming, Phonological Awareness), Motor (Purdue), Laterality (Questionnaire/observation).
