Provide students with a deep knowledge and with advanced R&D skills and competences on the subject of urban regeneration, as well as develop criteria and capacity for analysis, interpretation and comparison of urban regeneration experiences.

1 - Characteristics and dimensions of urban obsolescence and disadvantage. The diverse nature of the problems. Critical areas for urban regeneration.
2 - The fundamental principles that guide urban regeneration. Urban regeneration in Europe. Regeneration strategies between competitiveness and cohesion. Partnerships and institutional networks in urban regeneration. The financing of urban regeneration. Frameworks for the analysis and evaluation of urban regeneration experiences.
3 - Urban regeneration in Portugal: strategies of intervention and action models. Critical analysis and discussion of case studies.
4 - Synthesis. Prospects for the development of urban regeneration.
