Learning Outcomes

-- Use properly (fulfilling technical, formal and legal requirements) the cartographic documents and associated concepts;

- Discuss terms and concepts related to GIS, web mapping and web;

- Reflect on interoperability in GIS and web mapping;

- Recognize the importance and convergence of the standard file formats;

- Understand and apply the features and tools of Google Earth;

- Develop and provide web services.

1. Cartography

1.1  Terminological and conceptual framework.

1.2  Legal framework for the use and production of cartography in Portugal.

2. GIS and WEB 1.0.; From Paradox to Paradigm; issues and problems.

4. Google Earth as an engine of GIS 2nd generation.

5. Web mapping: GIS 2nd generation.
