Teaching Methods

Teaching and learning are made based on medical acupuncture consultations. A part with presential clinical consultations and one with the analysis and making decisions from clinical histories (therapeutic decision). For clinic consultation classes propose a maximum of two doctors in training for each consultation, resulting in a ratio not exceeding a patient / two doctors in training.

In a therapeutic decision component, if possible, will be made assistance cases of second opinion.

Learning Outcomes

The student, doctor in training, must acquire the ability to communicate properly with the patient about unconventional therapeutic and be able to explain in a simple and sustainable way, their applications and limitations in each case.

The student must, at the end of curricular unit, be able to make dry puncture and be able to take therapeutic decisions based on clinical histories.

To make medical diagnosis and identify the severity of the case

  To use properly informed consent

  To relate diagnosis with the etiology

  To relate diet and elements of gastrotecnics with the paciente health

  To identify limitations of the patient for use of dry puncture

  To make a therapeutic proposal integrating acupuncture with conventional and unconventional measures, appropriate to the clinical situation

  To do tutored practice of dry puncture

  To make the analysis of medical histories and on that basis make decisions – therapeutic decision.
