Teaching Methods

Technical and critical approach to the syllabus, emphasising dialogue with students;

Critical analysis of practical situations in museums and exhibition spaces, with the help of images;

Study visits to art museums (exhibition, storage and conservation spaces), favouring meetings with conservators, curators and technical conservation and restoration teams (exhibition and conservation) and subsequently drawing up reports.

Learning Outcomes

1. To acquire fundamental knowledge about museology and about the processes of integrating art into a museum context.

2. To identify, analyse and reflect on the major theoretical and practical issues of museums in the present day.

3. To understand the theoretical, methodological and technical implications of conserving ancient and contemporary art.

4. To acquire notions of preventive conservation and knowledge about the ethical and technical principles of restoration.
