Teaching Methods

During the work that is developed within the scope of their masters thesis, students should be encouraged to elaborate a quality scientific and technical work. To achieve this, students will be closely monitored by their supervisor, who will help them carry out the studies planned in the working plan that they initially proposed. Thus, students should make periodic presentations of their work, in which their results and future projects are assessed and discussed.

Learning Outcomes

During the "Master Thesis in Oncobiology" curricular unit, students should identify a relevant scientific question, and elaborate a working plan that they will then carry out in their experimental work. Within this context, students are expected to acquire the technical and scientific competencies that will allow them to autonomously and independently pursue the laboratory work needed for their masters dissertation. In addition to the experimental laboratory component, students should be able to critically interpret the results they obtain, as well as propose new approaches which allow them to test questions and hypothesis that appear during their work. For this, students will be followed by their supervisor and other researchers in the group where they are integrated.

Syllabus

This curricular unit aims for students to develop a highly relevant scientific work within the Oncobiology field. In this context, students should approach a relevant scientific question, identifying and adequately using the technical and technological means necessary to test their hypothesis. Thus, students are encouraged to contact diverse techniques and methodologies, which will allow them to have a multidisciplinary and integrative view of the research process. During the course of their work students will be closely and regularly monitored by their supervisor, who will guide them in their laboratorial tasks, experimental design and interpretation of the obtained results. Students will also be encouraged to actively participate in the dissemination of their work by participating in scientific meetings.
