Teaching Methods

The curricular unit consists of seminars concerning themes such as bibliographic research and scientific writing, bioethics, biostatistics, animal experimentation, "data handling" and good laboratory practices. This curricular unit also includes scientific seminars, lectured by researchers responsible for biomedical research projects underway in UC, and that are available to receive students for laboratory rotations and thesis projects. This way students can familiarize themselves with the research areas which they can select.

Learning Outcomes

The main objective of this structural curricular unit, is to provide students, coming from diverse scientific and technical fields, with fundamental and comprehensive knowledge and competencies in themes related to biomedical research. The contents address diverse and complementary themes, from bibliographic research to bioethical and animal experiementation concepts, "data handling", good laboratory practices, seminars lectured by leading scientists working in the biomedical field and the sharing of opinions and experiences with former students of the Course. This curricular unit aims for students to acquire the necessary skills to understand the fundamentals of the biomedical research process, as well as familiarize them with some of the research of excellence being developed within UC, and the past experiences of former students, allowing current students to make a more informed choice of the paths ahead.
