Recommended Prerequisites
Do to the holistic aproach of this unit, the student has to dominate previous knowledge in human anatomy, Fisiology, dental anatomy as all other previous learned disciplines.
Teaching Methods
Evidence based learning and sel-learning; online articles seraching; We presente diferente theories and sholl philosofhies, as diferente treatment aproaches in order to take the students to adquire a critical thinking methodology and a criative spirit.
Learning Outcomes
This clinical unit provides the learning in action of clinical skills devoted to dental prosthesis and ocllusal pathology. The students must be able to:
a) know the influence of the stomatognatic physiology on oral healt; evaluate signs and syntoms of temporomandibular disorders and perform tehe diferencial diagnostic with pathologyes from other medical fields; chose the correct terapeutical approach according to each case.
b) know the basic principles about partial fixed and removable dental prosthesis; recognize clinical indications according the different types of partial fixed and removable prosthesis.; choose appropriate prosthetic materials and components as well as fabrication procedures; do tooth preparation concerning partial fixed and removable prosthesis as well as adequate bite registrations; evaluate signs and syntoms of TMA joint and perform terapeutical clinical procedures.

Introduction and classification of partially edentulous patients. Basic principles of removable partial dentures (RPD). RPD Components. Indications and general characteristics. Survey and PPR design. Laboratory procedures for Framework construction. Special impression procedures. Cleaning and mantinance of RPD.
