General knowledge of legal culture.

Teaching Methods

Classes will be taught by the teacher in charge and divided between the exposition of the subjects indicated in the program and the debate between teachers and students on the themes worked on. Other professors and external specialists will also be invited to teach some of the classes of the curricular unit.

Learning Outcomes

The Seminar will provide students with solid training in the History of Luso-Brazilian Public Law, especially in the 19th and 20th centuries, in permanent relation with current public law issues. It is also the objective of the discipline to transmit to doctoral students a broad perspective of the evolution of political-legal solutions, aiming at the acquisition of essential knowledge for critical analysis. The historical evolution of Constitutional Law and Political-Legal Ideas will be treated with special development, since the specific analysis of some areas allows a level of rigor and depth that must be apprehended by students as a standard of investigation at this level of education.
