Learning Outcomes

The Roman Law Seminar aims at providing PhD students with skills for mastering research methods that will allow them to conduct studies based on sources of roman law knowledge (maxime, the Corpus Iuris Civilis). The chosen theme – «Solidary obligations in Roman Law» - provides a privileged field of application for such methods, especially the method for historical criticism of sources. This is due to the existence of Justinian imperial constitutions that change many aspects of the classical subject of these obligations, with a resulting modification of the texts to which the subject report.
