Recommended Prerequisites

Students must have successfully completed all mandatory curricular units.

Teaching Methods

The teaching methods are tutorial, with periodical evaluation of the preliminary versions of the PhD thesis chapters by supervisor (s), that includes also the participation of students in advanced seminars and the presentation of papers in scientific meetings to allow the enlarged discussion of the results obtained in their research.

Learning Outcomes

The main objective of this curricular unit is the development of a PhD thesis under the guidance of a teacher, enabling students to acquire competences needed to conduct a research project in risk sciences.

Specific competences:

- make appropriate use of methodologies and research techniques in risk sciences;

- master the scientific writing and the procedures associated with the publication of scientific articles;

- be aware of the ethical pressupositions associated with scientific research in risk sciences;

- communicate accurately and clearly with the scientific, using various media.
