Recommended Prerequisites

In addition to Portuguese and foreign languages, also consolidated learning on 1^st cycle law studies subjects, especially public law-related ones.

Teaching Methods

Seminar-like classes. After a few sessions in which the main guidelines of the course topics will be introduced, students are expected to develop their written work. The latter will be subsequently presented and discussed in class. Evaluation will be based on the written work and the oral participation in class. 

Learning Outcomes

The objective  of this 2^nd cycle course is to prepare students for their Master's dissertation by helping them to develop autonomous research skills and critical reflection.

International treaties; State and international organizations responsibility; succession of States; law of the sea; self-determination of peoples; international criminal law; international environmental law; ban on the use of force, and exceptions; regime governing international spaces.
