Teaching Methods

The teaching model used follows a three step approach: a lecture that covers theoretical concepts, a lecture to analyze situations using the concepts learned, and a lecture to role play situations where you make decisions based on the material covered in the previous two lectures. Reflective practice will allow students to debrief and analyze what has happened in the roleplay so that they may improve from one roleplay to another. The situations presented in the roleplays will build on top of one another, increasing in complexity as the course progresses.

Learning Outcomes

The expected learning outcomes are: understand the impacts of various factors on various human interactions; understand others through the lens of understanding oneself; learn various ways of looking and analyzing situations involving potential problems related to people and how to deal with them; and learn or strengthen skills in the area of managing people.
