Stomatognatic Physiology

Recommended Prerequisites

The student has to dominate previous knowledge in human anatomy, Fisiology, dental anatomy.

Evidence based learning and sel-learning; online articles seraching; We presente diferente theories and sholl philosofhies, as diferente treatment aproaches in order to take the students to adquire a critical thinking methodology and a criative spirit.

Learning Outcomes

The student Shell be able to recognize:growing and development of TMJ, Morpholojy of TMJ, Morpholojy of mastigatory muscles;  Neuromuscular function, Biomechanical concepts fot the stomatognatic system, Importance of occlusion; mandibular reference positions. The student Shell be able to: a correct use of articulators; perform an instrumental occlusal analisys.

Syllabus

Phisiology and occlusion concepts; mandibular cinematics; functional mandibular movements, mastigation, deglutition; occlusal stability; paradontal reations to phisiological forces; phisiological occlusion versus ideal occlusion; táctil sensibilization; Ajustable articulaters; anterior guidance; facial arch; ceroplaty; articulator manipulation.
