Teaching Methods

Dermatology:

- Lectures and interactive discussion of the thematic issues of the program.

Neurology:

Lectures: essentially expository method (teacher-centered)

Theoretical-practical classes: exposition / demonstrative method (neurological examination methodology of teaching); based on experience - study of clinical cases, simulation syndromic situations, diagnostic reasoning.

Ophthalmology:

Lectures and theoretical and practical.

ENT:

Lectures and theoretical and practical.

Pediatrics:

Theoretical classes

Psychopathology:

Expository method, comprising the encouragement of asking questions, questions and comments on the issues in order to stimulate participatory debate.

Demonstrative method, procedures, techniques and strategies for teaching.

Active methods such as practical exercises, role playing exercises and contact with patients.

Self-study.

Therapy:

Theoretical and theoretical-practical issues.

Learning Outcomes

The aim of this curricular unit is to teach subjects not covered by other programs of dentistry in the correlated areas of medicine. The student should know the most common diseases that he can find when he examines the patient with diseases of the mouth, he must know the structures and functions attached to the mouth or in its vicinity, and he must know the rational therapy (related to dentistry).

Dermatology

-Structure and functions of the skin

-Infections by virus, Mycoses, Eczemas

Neurology

-To know and identify the most common neurological diseases with implications for dentistry

Ophthalmology

- Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology of the eye.

Otorhinolaringology (ORL)

-General medical education in the various fields of ORL (related to odontology or dentistry)

Pediatrics

- Presentation of some concepts related to prenatal and perinatal life and newborn. Interpretation of growth curves (percentiles). List acute illnesses and their implications in dentistry

Psychopathology:

-To know the main psychopathological syndromes, eg anxiety, depression, psychosis, behavior disturbances including for food

Therapeutics

-To know the beneficial and adverse effects of drugs that will be prescribed, with special attention to risk groups (drugs and conditions attached to dentistry)

- To know therapeutics in the emergence conditions.

-To know pharmacological interactions. Pharmacovigilance.
