Recommended Prerequisites

Knowledge of the subjects covered over the coursework.

Teaching Methods

The course unit takes place at both schools and consists of a series of seminars where various topics and methodologies are presented.

At EEGUM, the seminars are in September, and each student must write an essay on a topic based on one of the seminars. The students are asked to participate in at least two NIPE regular seminars.

At FEUC, each student should submit a proposal containing two papers. Each student must perform two presentations and deliver an essay. The students are also asked to participate in at least two GEMF regular seminars.

The final grade is given by the simple average.

Learning Outcomes

1. Develop learning skills and the ability to conduct independent research in economics.

2. Identify gaps, flaws, or other weaknesses in Economic theory in order to develop original ideas and extend advanced knowledge in Economics.

3. Communicate clearly the conclusions of scientific work, and the knowledge and rationality behind them, at different audiences.

4. Understand the techniques and methods for conducting research in economics.

5. Develop skills for assessing the accuracy, validity and relevance of published scientific research papers.

This course unit exposes students to diverse scientific proposals with the aim of enhancing their creative capacity. National and international speakers are invited to give testimony of their research practices.
