Learning Outcomes

Know the pharmacological characteristics of the main drugs used in the treatment of hypertension, angina, arrhythmias, heart failure, and thromboembolism in elderly patients. Apply the knowledge acquired in clinical problem solving. Know the main DGS data and the epidemiology of the cardiovascular disease in Portugal and in the rest of the world. Understand the impact of cardiovascular diseases and its specificties in the elderly. Identify the clinical profile of stable coronary disease. Know how to use apropriatly the main non-invasive cardiovascular tests. Know some of the clinical research performed in the CHUC in this specific area. Discuss cardiovascular diseases' clinical cases. Know  the results of the PSC registry program, and the results from the HUC-CHUC cath lab. Know the results of PCI in patients more than 90 years-old. They must be able to critical review a scientific paper.
