Learning Outcomes

To know and always have in mind the conditions of the peripheral vascular area that are more frequent in the elderly, because they are those in which aging has marked influence, so that he can intervene in the prevention, early diagnosis and timely treatment.

Syllabus

Arterial diseases. Arteriosclerosis, atherosclerosis and aging. Atherothrombosis. Risk factors besides age.

Abdominal aortic aneurysm: symptomatology, diagnosis, treatment ( surgical and endovascular ). Chronic ischemia of the lower limbs: symptomatology, diagnosis, treatment. Ankle/arm Pressure Index as a marker of atherosclerosis. Cerebrovascular insufficiency, cervical-cranial arterial lesions. Symptomatology, diagnosis, prevention, treatment.

Vasospastic arterial diseases appearing and worsening with age. Secondary Raynaud's phenomenon, Raynaud's syndrome. Pathogenesis, clinical presentation, treatment, prevention.

Venous diseases - pathology of the return circulation .

Varicose veins and varicose syndrome. Mechanisms of adaptation of our species to the return circulation of the lower limbs. Varicose veins and their complications. Clinical manifestations, physical examination, treatment planning. Therapeutic and prophylactic measures.
