Teaching Methods

Lecture method associated with the use of pedagogical practices that promote independent work of students and their active participation in the learning process, such as presentation and discussion of texts and conducting work group.

Learning Outcomes

This curricular unit is mainly intended to promote reflection on education’s social-political construction, emphasizing the importance of the political, social and economic context of education’s public policies. New ways of education’s regulation will be analysed, associated witth the development of a multi-regulator system, emphasizing  trans-national and local dynamics in the regulation of education and educational organizations. Intends to reflect on the complexity of the processes of formulation and implementation of educational policies , its actors and instruments .

Learning Outcomes :

Know the concepts and theoretical perspectives concerning analysis of educational policies,

Critically analyze changes in the role of the state and current educational policies;

Understand the processes and contexts of development and implementation of educational policies , its actors and instruments;

Understand the relationship between educational policy and educational administration.

1 - State, Education and Public Policy. Transformation of education and society. From the "Educator" State to the "Evaluative" State.

2 - Analysis of educational policies: the cycle of educational policies of  Ball and Bowe; policy analysis of J. Codd education.

3 - New forms of regulation of public action in education: new actors, logics and tools. From global to local.

4 - Educational Policies and New Public Management. Governance and Accountability.
