Theoretical and technical knowledge in the field of Adult Education and Training.

Teaching Methods

Teaching methodologies in this curricular unit are diverse. A combination of traditional methods (lecture) and more active ones are used, such as small and large group discussions in the classroom, elaboration of programs and presentation in the classroom, and demonstrations.

Learning Outcomes

Its main goal is to provide MA students with the ability to develop educational/training programs for adults, according to different theoretical models, and to critically reflect about their limitations and potentials.

1. To understand and value the Recognition and Validation of  Prior Learning  , as a new area of Adult Education and Training.

2. To develop a global vision about conception, planning and evaluation of educational programs for adults, according to different models, and to be able to consistently integrate all its principles and components.

3. To design educational programs for adults, according to specific models of adult education and training.  

4. To understand the limitations and potentialities of the evaluation of programs and policies of Adult Education and Training.

1. Personal and social recognition of knowledge and competences as the basis for guiding and training adults.

2. Life stories and portfolios as methodologies for validation and certification of non-formal and informal learning.

3. The importance of Paulo Freire’s thought to Adult Education and Training in practice.

4. The use of the Cultural Circle as a dialogical proposal for social change.

5. Overview of educational and training programs for adults in the classic model.

6. Needs assessment.

7. How to formulate and assess goals and objectives of education and training programs for adults.

8. How to design education and training plans for adults.

9. How to evaluate education and training programs for adults.
