Evaluation methodology:
- Continuous work: involvement and participation in online and offline seminar sessions (50%)
- Term paper or practical project (50%).
Learning Outcomes
This curricular unit aims to embrace theoretical and historical fundamentals of knowledge organization, as well as current practices. Starting with the discussion of concepts and terminology and of the application context of semantic schemas such as thesaurus, taxonomies and ontologies, the Semantic Web will be examined, along with new schemas of knowledge representation, to understand theoretical fundamentals and practical implications to the digital environment.

1. To understand the context in which individuals and organizations operate today, in regard to information management
2. To understand the role of information and knowledge management in an organization
3. To identify and select suitable tools for information and knowledge management
Competencies
− Professional level usage of tools to organize, share and communicate information and knowledge
− Critical approach and attitude towards information and knowledge organization issues
Learning outcomes:
1) to understand the main theoretical frameworks that originated the fundamental concepts of knowledge organization
2) to understand the main theoretical frameworks for digital knowledge and information organization
3) to critically address scientific discourse and scientific-based practices in the field of information and knowledge organization
4) to understand current issues, particularly regarding the impact of digital technologies.
