Recommended Prerequisites
Advanced language skills in French (CEFR level C1).
Teaching Methods
Classes include presentations by the teacher and by students (based on the reading of texts indicated by the teacher or other documents), always followed by discussion involving the whole group; at the end of each class, the group carries out translation exercises resorting to the available Internet databases and IT tools for solving problems and identifying reliable sources.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the semester, students should be able to:
a) Identify issues relevant to the translation of each text according to the respective area of specialisation;
b) Identify and summarise the main features of LSP texts;
c) Make a critical analysis of the text typologies addressed and the kinds of problems raised in translating them;
d) Translate examples of each text type;
e) Apply the knowledge acquired in 1st semester seminars, especially Translation Theory, Advanced Writing Techniques and Applied Informatics and Terminology.

The syllabus includes texts from various fields, in particular law, medicine, pharmacy, technology, tourism, and economics. A general reflection about the specific issues and concepts of each field will precede translation exercises and their discussion.
