Learning Outcomes
Objectives: 1. To use in a rigorous way psychological assessment instruments. 2. To articulate the information gathered by psychological assessment tools in order to write a relevant and well-founded psychological report. 3. To learn how to articulate the axis of psychological practice with the axis of research (theoretical and empirical) in psychological assessment, instruments and psychological reports.
Competencies: 1. To know psychological assessment tools necessary for professional practice in Psychology in different contexts and with studies in Portugal. 2. To identify key issues of a technical, psychometric and ethical nature related to the use of instruments based on the analysis of the published theoretical and empirical research. 3. To demonstrate competencies in communicating the information obtained and to write psychological reports. 4. To understand the complexity of the specialized work of the psychologist as an expert in psychological assessment and in writing reports.

1. Aims, assumptions, advantages and limitations, psychometric parameters and other research with psychological assessment tools that examining: 1.1. intelligence (WAIS-III); 1.2. personality (MMPI-2, NEO PI-R, MCMI-III, 16 PF-5; EPQ-R; ICAC, PHSCS-II) and 1.3. symptoms (STAI, BSI, BDI/ BDI-II, IACLIDE, RCMAS, STAI-C): 2. New instruments for psychological assessment developed for portuguese population: IACFiTe, IAFAI, MoCA). 3. Psychological Reports: technical aspects of writing, guidelines and other technical advice in the preparation and presentation of the report; table of contents (analysis of the application and background information, observation of behavior, test scores and other assessment tools and their interpretation, diagnostic impressions and conceptualization / formulation of the case; recommendations); examples, ethical and deontological issues. 4. The psychologist as an expert in psychological assessment tasks and writing reports.
