Teaching Methods
Accordingly to the defined aims for this curricular unit we will search, in every class, to conciliate expositive teaching methodologies,with electronic support, with more practical and interactive methodologies,for instance:analysis,discussion and synthesis from small texts, press materials, audio-visual records and others;production in little groups of debate “manifests”(arguments)concerning themes proposed by teachers and /or students.
Learning Outcomes
Introduction subject concerning the basic knowledge and the critical reflexion about social policy and social protection, as well as the ideological, economical, historical and cultural bases and influencies. Like this the curricular unit intends to prepare students to know and to understand critically: the connection between social policy and social work as an agent of citizenship,social justice and change; the different social policy models and the impacts in terms of social problems and inequalities regulation; the historical and current mutations in the concept of risk and the influences on social policies and social intervention; the national and European welfare systems and the underlying regulatory trends; the social policy particularities in the Portuguese context and the connexions with the European guidelines.
