Teaching Methods

In line with the objectives of the curricular unit we will seek to reconcile teaching methodologies expository in nature, using computer media, with more practical and interactive methods, eg analysis, discussion and summaries from selected texts, analysis and debate cases and ethical dilemmas; values and stereotypes clarification exercises and discussion, inviting experts and professionals, among others.

Learning Outcomes

The CU of EDSS constitutes a space of philosophical-practical reflection, centered on the ethical aspects of the professional practice. As such, its fundamental purpose is to provide parameters of analysis that allow the future social worker to equate their ethical responsibility and to deepen the moral sense of their intervention. It is intended to: Reflect and understand the principles and values of SW Deontological Codes as indicators of the social direction of the profession; Analyze different perspectives of professional ethics within the scope of the SW; To apprehend the various possibilities that the ethical dimension qualifies in its manifestations of to achieve the implications of ethics in determining the dilemmas in professional daily life; Discuss the complexity of today's bioethical issues.

In this way, the students must acquire competences for the exercise and construction of the foundations and the argument on professional ethics in the contemporary debate of the SW

I. ETHICS, MORAL AND DEONTOLOGY: CONCEPTUAL ANALYSIS

- The fundamentals of ethics and morality, professions and ethics: moral and criticism in professional everyday life, the basis of a code of professional ethics, professional code of ethics and ethics, ethics of relationship and care vs. ethics of principles, itself to the aesthetics of existence.

II.ETICS AND DEONTOLOGY OF SOCIAL SERVICE: PRINCIPLES AND VALUES

- Philosophical Values of Human Rights, SW Deontological Code: Declaration of Principles, Ethical Dilemmas in debate, Professional Secrecy: ethical and juridical determinants.

III. CONTEMPORARY PERSPECTIVES OF PROFESSIONAL ETHICS FOR SOCIAL SERVICE

-European and American: ethical and operational statements; Redemption of Ethics in professional projects.

IV. THE BIOLOGICAL / TECHNOLOGICAL REVOLUTION AND THE ETHICAL CONSEQUENCES

- Bioethics and science: research with human beings and informed consent; Hans Jones: principle of responsibility; The dilemmas of trust.
