Learning Outcomes

Objectives of the unit:

Functional cognitive assessment of children and adolescents, with and without special educational needs (4 – 12 years old), based on the application of operative examinations. Analysis of the relationship between these results and the school grades of the individuals evaluated
 
Learning Outcomes

It is intended that students acquire skills so as to properly use various Piagetian tests, in order to develop an operative diagnosis which will allow them to know the characteristics of logical-mathematical thinking of the individuals evaluated. Thus students will become able to intervene, if they work as a school Psychologist, after the analysis of the individuals’ school performance.

1. Operatory diagnosis: theoretical and methodological framework.
1.1. The constructivist theory of Jean Piaget.
1.2. The development of intelligence and operatory examinations.
1.3. Evolution and characteristics of the clinical method proposed by Jean Piaget.

2. Operatory examinations: materials, instructions and interpretation of results.

3. Assessment of cognitive behavior: selection of tests and criteria for sequential application.

4. Cognitive functional and microgenetic diagnosis of intervention in school context.

5. Assessment of intellectual operations of students with special educational needs.

6. Assessment and transmission of results, principles and norms.

Periodic
Classroom presentation of a group assignment to be defined in class : 40.0%
Presentation of a final assignment in which students perform at least 3 operative assessment of a child and the respective Assessment Report : 60.0%
