Teaching Methods

Sessions are held on seminar model, promoting the collective discussion of texts and working materials relating to the Thesis projects. They are based on the active participation of students, particularly through the presentation of texts and coordination of the collective discussion

Learning Outcomes

The study unit continues the Doctoral Seminar I, insisting though on a methodological perspective with a view to preparing final versions of thesis projects. It promotes:

1. reflection on current topics of world urban panorama, according to some international organizations.

2. the  planning of the collection, compilation and use of information with a view to the completion of a doctoral thesis;

3. transversal debates around sociocultural issues and city cultures;

1. How to make an oral presentation of the project

2. Sociological writing techniques

3. Statistics and documental sources on the city and urban cultures.

4. Perspectives on current research topics (according to the students’ research topics).
