Teaching Methods

The sessions are organized either in the format of conference, with particular focus on the period of debate taking opportunity from the presence of guest-speakers; or in the form of workshops, where the group works over a concrete book previously agreed upon, analyzing its contribution to the area of study and discussing its scientific contents. Following the discussions a written critical essay is to be delivered according to one of the topics under analysis, freely chosen by the student. Participation in the discussion sessions (40%); written essay (60%).

Learning Outcomes

This seminar includes a series of guest speakers that deal with recent topics and debates in the Peace Studies area, international security, critical perspectives on international politics’ themes. There will also be a practical exercise focusing on the discussion of the most recent bibliography available in these areas of study and research. The specific goal of this Seminar is to stimulate theoretical and empirical reflection about current topics, promote debate and analytical capacity, and contribute to the students’ research autonomy.

The seminar is organized on an annual basis according to the guest speakers that contribute to the reflection and discussion of the different topics. It is sought to assure that the contents are diversified and multidisciplinary, with theoretically differentiated focuses in the area of peace Studies, broadly understood.
