 Applied Physics, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biology. 

Teaching Methods

 The lecture and laboratory are taught to enable students to grasp selective and integrated scientific knowledge as a result of a logical and deductible. Subjects are systematized, aiming to achieve the competencies that are established for this teaching unit. The lectures have lasting sixty minutes and follow the model of masterful lesson. In the exhibition uses the data "show." Previously, the classes are available in UCStudent. Laboratory classes lasting two hours to allow practical work described above and contribute to the achievement of the proposed objectives.

- Overview of drug design, formulation, preparation, dispensing and administration.

- Understanding of the scientific foundations underlying the main operations aimed at transforming the active substance into the pharmaceutical form.

- Identification, distinction and classification of different pharmaceutical forms.

- Preparation, control and dispensing of manipulated medicines and application of Good Practices.

Laboratory Program

Good Practices to be observed in the preparation of manipulated. Equipment of the Galénic Laboratory. The Portuguese Galenic Form. The Portuguese Pharmacopeia and the foreign Pharmacopoeias.Demonstration of some pharmaceutical operations and techniques. Simple spraying. Intermediate spraying. Powder screening and classification.

Preparation of compound powders and pharmaceutical papers.

Calculation of drug sales prices to the public

Preparation of gelatine capsules. Completion of the Manipulated Drug preparation form

Preparation of solutions.

Preparation of suspensions and emulsions

Preparation of ointments, cream and gel.
