Teaching Methods
The teaching will be carried out through lectures of matter, trying to give a great comprehension to the subjects developed. In the theoretical-practical component, theoretical contents will be applied to the resolution of clinical cases.
Learning Outcomes
Knowing that Clinical Pharmacy is defined as that area of Pharmacy concerned with the rational medication use, this curricular unit aims to prepare pharmacists to integrate a health care team, playing its unique role in taking patient care, particularly by improving medicines-related health outcomes for individual patients.

Theoretical component: Clinical Pharmacy as a field of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The clinical method. Pharmacotherapy and the patient’s health. The issue of polipharmacy and adherence to therapy. Clinical pharmacists services (medication reconciliation, medication review, pharmacotherapy follow-up). Special issues in pharmacotherapy: children, pregnant women and elderly. Individualization of therapy (dose adjustment in renal and liver failure, clinical pharmacokinetics). Intervention of the clinical pharmacist at different levels of health care (primary care, intermediate care, acute care).
Theoretical – practical component: consolidation of knowledge in the theoretical component by solving clinical cases.
