Learning Outcomes
The Roman Law course aims to contribute to the juridical training of the students and show them, in particular, that the identification between Law and the law is not something that always existed as the Law is a cultural and historical phenomenon. It provides them with knowledge of some legal constructs and institutions at the root of current law and that can serve as a starting point to the unification of European private law.
Students must know, mainly, the sources of Roman civil law and its relationship with the law created by certain magistrates, as well as the basics of Roman law of obligations. They also must be aware of the close connection between that law and the current law of obligations.
