Academic year
2019-2020
Code
01550706
Subject Area
CHEMICAL AND PHYSICAL SCIENCES
Language of Instruction
Portuguese
Other Languages of Instruction
English
Mode of Delivery
Face-to-face
Duration
SEMESTRIAL
ECTS Credits
4.0
Type
Compulsory
Level
1st Cycle Studies

Recommended Prerequisites

Chemistry (pre-university level).

Teaching Methods

In lectures, the subjects are presented to the students in an informal manner, accompanied by illustration with examples relevant to health sciences students, and stimulating discussion and active participation.
In the lab sessions, students execute simple analytical determinations based on the methods (titration, potentiometry) described in the lectures.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the semester, the student should be able to balance chemical equations, according to the different chemical equilibriums. Students should also be able to understand the importance of sampling and calibration in analytical and bioanalytical procedures. Finally, the students must also know and apply the knowledge of electrochemistry in bioanalytical procedures.
