The methodology follows a theoretical exposition and a paper discussion.

Learning Outcomes

• To understand the notion of healthcare system and the reasons of the creation, in a specific context, of two different models of healthcare systems, Bismarckian model and Beveridgian model, identifying their specific features and the following evolution to mixed models.
• To understand the healthcare systems challenges and the pressure on reforms.
• To understand Portuguese healthcare system organization, describing its legal framework and discussing the main recent reforms.
