To gain understanding on some of the physics concepts relevant for  different phenomena and techniques used in Pharmacy. Acquire experience in problem solving.

Interactions: fund. forces in nature; other types of forces; Newton laws; work and energy; conserv. forces; collisions; electric charge; Coulomb law; electric field and electric potential; electric dipole.

Elasticity: stress and strain; Hooke’s law; elastic moduli; plastic behaviour of materials.

Fluid mechanics: pressure and Pascal Law; buoyancy and Arquimedes law; flow of ideal fluids, Bernoulli equation; viscous fluids flow, Poiseuille law; turbulence, Reynolds number; .particles in fluids, Stokes law; terminal velocity and sedimentation; centrifugues; rehology, newtonian and non-newtonian fluids; experim. Determ. of viscosity; particle diffusion, Fick’s law.

Surface tension and capillarity: interfaces; contact angle; pressure differential through interface; capillarity.

Waves: oscillatory motion; damped oscillator; ressonance; transverse and longitudinal waves; polarization; superposition and interference; light, refraction and Snell’s law; diffraction; active optical materials.
