Recommended Prerequisites

The recommended prerequisites include what is taught in the Secondary Schools in the curricular unit of Chemistry, namely at the 12º level. Also the 1st semester General and Inorganic Chemistry curricular unit is an important issue for an adequate knowledge in Analytical Chemistry.

Teaching Methods

The lectures are intended to explain theoretical concepts, conveniently illustrated with relevant application examples. The lectures are taught in an informal way, applying for active student participation. The practical classes are based in problem based learning. In laboratory classes, students perform analytical determinations based on methods described in the lectures.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the semester, the student should be able to balance chemical equations, according to the different chemical equilibrium involving chemical species in aqueous solutions. Students should also be able to apply knowledge and develop volumetric and gravimetric analytical methodologies.
