Recommended foundation knowledge: general chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, instrumental analysis methods.

Learning Outcomes

-  To give students the required metrological foundations and concepts necessary to perform routine work in an analytical laboratory, giving them the ability to correctly execute various relevant metrological assays;

-  To develop concepts related to strategy and implementation of analytical validation, Good Laboratory

Practice Application, study stages, analytical methods, critical points evaluation, report and protocol making, and revalidation, according to the required guidelines.

4.    Portuguese institute for quality, and its role in metrological control;
5.    International system of units;
6.    Measurement uncertainty;
7.    Correct use and calibration of micropipettes: importance and verification;
8.    Importance and verification of the calibration of commonly used laboratory instruments;
9.    Analytical validation of analytical methods: fundamental concepts and terminology;
10.    Validation parameters: selectivity, specificity, sensibility, detection and quantification limits, precision, accuracy, and robustness; stability;
11.    Acceptability criteria;
12.    Certified materials;
13.    Reference method;
14.    Analytical revalidation;
15.    European guidelines and regulations;
16.    Application in different areas: practical cases.
