Recommended Prerequisites

Although knowledge of contemporary history, general theory of civil law, constitutional law and administrative law is presupposed, the fact that this course unit is given in the first academic year renders it necessary that we should start by providing the students with some of those basics related to the core contents of the course unit.

Teaching Methods

The teaching method adopted varies in accordance with the type of classes: deductive method is privileged in theory classes; inductive method is preferred in practical classes, and active participation of each student is required for the resolution of the specific (real or fictional) cases presented.

Learning Outcomes

This curricular unit is designed to familiarize the students with some of the core contents of Law and International Affairs. Starting with an historical survey, the curricular plan is focused on the relationship between International Law and Domestic Law, in the sources, in the subjects of law (states, international organizations, nations and the individual) and in the methods (political and diplomatic as well as jurisdictional) for pacific resolution of conflicts. Through an essentially monistic approach to the different themes, the goal of the course is one of leading the students to realize that, in a time in which international public order has rendered less utopic the search for an international minimum ethical order, the international and the domestic issues are interconnected.
