Teaching Methods
During lectures, the student will be exposed to practical execution and intervention based on the contents. Also, practical teaching/coaching situation composed by 2/3 drills will be made by the students under a proposed theme.
Learning Outcomes
The aim of the curricular unit is to provide the knowledge and methodological instruments required to teach and coach the game of Basketball in the stages of initiation and first specialization in the game (from 8 to 16 years)

Contribution for the general competencies aimed by the general curriculum of Practical Studies; The student should critically analyze the game and has the capacities to improve his knowledge in the area of teaching and training of Basketball.

Presentation of the game: court and equipments; history and evolution of Basketball, a mean to understand the spirit of the game.
Fundamentals with ball: dribble to progress on the court, dribble to protect the ball; pass; basic offensive position and facing the basket; stops and pivots; shooting
Tactical fundamentals: transition with 3,4 and 5 players to offense; give and go guard-forward; 1 versus 1 with ball and without ball; relationships between two players to occupy the key spaces on offense rationally;
Defense of the ball handler; help positions on defense
