Teaching Methods
Expository lectures to introduce students to the main concepts coupled with more practical lectures aimed at problem solving and to motivate class discussion on the subjects taught. Evaluation considers the presentation of a business plan (only the financial part is relevant).
Learning Outcomes
In the context of the other courses of the program, it is expected that the students develop the necessary skills to evaluate the financial implications of management decisions as well as to evaluate the viability of investment projects. Moreover, it is expected that the students will be able to solve capital budgeting problems using Excel.

The course offers contact with a set of finance subjects relevant for the background of an executive, namely a marketing one.
Particular attention is given to the finance component of any business plan, namely the preparation of the financial documents that allow for the evaluation of management decisions and capital budgeting.
Topics include:
1. Framework for financial projections
2. The time value of money
3. Economic viability of investment projects
4. Financial planning and the preparation of provisional financial statements.
