Teaching Methods

The internship is accompanied by a teacher from the OU and by a supervisor from the hosting organization.

At the end of the internship, the hosting organization shall draw up an evaluation report on the performance of the intern. The intern has to write an internship report that is assessed under the terms laid down in the Academic Regulation of the University of Coimbra (ARUC), approved by the Rector’s Regulation no. 344/2010, published in the Official Gazette, 2nd series, 12 April 2010.

The Internship Report is assessed by a panel established in accordance with art. 52 of the Academic Regulation and is subject to a public defence, pursuant to art. 54 of the same Regulation.

Learning Outcomes

MAF´s professional route can be completed through an Internship in a hosting organization. The internship allows the student’s integration in an organization, where s/he is supervised by a OU’s member and by a supervisor from the hosting organization.

At the end of the internship, the student writes an internship report comprising various goals, enabling him/her with the following capabilities:

a) integration in an organization

b) teamwork

c) realizing decisions’ economic consequences

d) working in situations of pressure

e) managing and organizing information

The internship report should also include a theoretical research work on a relevant subject within MAF’s strategic areas, supervised by OU’s supervisor, where the student will have to show the following competencies:

f) Knowing how to use the appropriate methodologies to the chosen subject

g) Ability to analyse, summarize and reflect critically

h) Ability to generate new ideas and to sustain them before a panel.

Syllabus

Students choose the hosting organizations, in dialogue with the Master’s Coordination and given the available alternatives. The internship takes place in the context of a protocol signed between the OU and the hosting organization. This protocol defines the goals of each internship.
