Teaching Methods

The Master’s dissertation is an individual work, but subject to the supervision of the supervisor and/or co-supervisors.

MAF’s coordination organizes some sessions during the course of the dissertation, in which the various dissertation projects are presented to students, teachers and supervisors. During these sessions students are confronted with the issues and problems that their research might involve, and the various participants can/should suggest the improvements that they deem convenient.

Learning Outcomes

MAF’s scientific route is completed by the submission of a Master’s dissertation. The dissertation is a research work supervised by a supervisor, who must belong to MAF’s teaching staff, and may be accompanied by a co-supervisor, internal or external to the OU, according to the specific nature of the subject to be developed.

The student, with the supervision of the supervisor, selects a subject within the master’s scope and addresses it in depth in the dissertation.

The student conducts the research work using the appropriate methodologies. The student must acquire an in-depth knowledge of the subject chosen to the dissertation and must be empowered with the following competencies:

a) Appropriate level of written expression;

b) Capacity to manage and organize the information;

c) Ability to analyse, summarize and reflect critically;

d) Ability to work interdisciplinary subjects;

e) Ability to generate new ideas and to sustain them before a panel.
