Teaching Methods

The adoption of theoretical and practical lessons allow combining moments of theoretical discourse  with others in which students actively involved in solving practical exercises to consolidate knowledge. The lectures are organized to encourage students’ active involvement in learning, fostering student/teacher interaction. Theoretical exhibitions are combined with more practical initiatives like problem solving exercises and newspapers analyses.

Learning Outcomes

 Overall objectives

Understanding the legal framework of economic activity in Portugal taking into account its connections with European Union law.

Specific objectives

-Identifying  the national and EU legal framework to access an economic activity and the exercise thereof;

- Understanding the scope of the State's intervention in the economy, in market regulation, and in provision of goods and services , taking also into account non economic values,;

- Analysing EU an national competition law

Generic competencies

Providing future economists with a framework of reference for business decisions and strategies regarding access to and exercise of economic activity.

Specific competencies

-Promoting the understanding of the technical legal discourse and to encourage its proper use;

- Promoting the comprehension of law in order to deal with economic issues;

- Facilitating the dialogue with legal professionals in a business context.
