Teaching Methods
Students doing mixed evaluation should give an oral presentation on a conflict covered in one of the curricular units of the third year of the first cycle degree in International Relations, using French bibliography recommended by the teachers of the aforementioned curricular units. To improve aural skills, comprehension exercises will be given using excerpts from conferences, debates, interviews and television and radio news programs. The reading and analysis of texts in the area of International Relations will enable a lexical and morphosyntactic study of the language. Through the writing of extensive essays and/or argumentative texts, the students will develop their written competence. The range of exercises given during classes will center on the four competences of the CEFR and will be the focus of final exam at the end of the curricular unit. There will also be an emphasis on the contents and debates stemming from the different themes covered in the oral presentations.
Learning Outcomes
In relation to student competencies, students should reach level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). The program contents, which are always in the area of International Relations, aim to develop the necessary competences for the student to understand a wide range of lengthy and challenging texts, including their implicit meanings, allow students to express themselves fluently and spontaneously and use the language flexibly and effectively in social, academic and professional contexts and give opinions on complex topics in a clear and well-structured way, indicating a very good grasp of the organizational structure and coherence and cohesion of discourse.
