Teaching Methods

Lectures of systematization of contents, on the basis of a dynamic of presentation and discussion of studying materials assuring interaction with the students, in order to guarantee an adequate follow-up to the contents of the discipline. International Relations theory in practice: movies followed by discussion

Learning Outcomes

Overall objectives

Starting from the main developments in the international setting, this course analyses the main current debates in International Relations. Particular attention will be paid to the theoretical (reflexivist and post-modern) approaches that question the mainstream understandings of the world.

Specific competencies and objectives

-   To understand the importance of theory as a tool to analyse the world.

-   To know the main authors, concepts and theoretical approaches in the field of contemporary IR.

-   To understand the connection between theory and practice.

Generic competencies

Development of the following competencies: capacity of analysis and synthesis, reading comprehension in English, ability to work in groups.
