Recommended Prerequisites

Students must have successfully completed the curricular unit of Introduction to Management.  

Teaching Methods

Lectures are essentially expositive, supported when appropriate by illustrative examples on several topics, in order to encourage interest and discussion by the students.

Classes will develop from a set of practical cases, particularly suitable to complement matters addressed in lectures.

Learning Outcomes

Overall objectives
This curricular unit aims to bestow the students with adequate knowledge allowing them to understand accounting as a financial information and reporting system,indispensable for decision-making by different users interacting with business entities
Specific objectives
It is intended to introduce concepts,methods,techniques and statements of Financial Accounting,as a management information subsystem
Generic competencies
One will seek to grant the students an adequate conceptual and practical support, as well as regarding accounting standards, even though at an introductory level, so that one can offer the needed instruments to develop related topics in subsequent curricular units
Specific competencies
The conceptual and practical support will allow the students to understand the preparation and contents of the financial statements while main elements of reporting the patrimonial and financial situation as well as the results of an economic entity,in a certain period
