Teaching Methods

The methodology encompasses lectures using audiovisual media, group dynamics, analysis of research papers and case studies.

Promotes active learning and reported, favoring the interaction, to integrate students ' knowledge and facilitate the development of competencies.

The knowledge assessment is done through a written work and of its oral presentation and discussion. Twenty days before the delivery of the work the student must deliver a project of same (theme, justification (5-6 lines) and outline of the index).

With the written work, presentation and discussion the student needs to demonstrate to have achieved at least four of the objectives proposed.

The classification is assigned from zero to twenty values, being guaranteed approval with the minimum rating of ten values. The final ranking is obtained by the weighted average of the written document (60%) and oral presentation/discussion (30%) and class participation (10%).

Learning Outcomes

This course is structured to provide participants with skills and capabilities that allow to understand the factors involved in resource management, processes and behaviors in health organizations, as well as incorporate strategic knowledge performance in the context of the evolution of the health system.

At the end of the course, the student must: demonstrate knowledge about the current health system context and specificities of the organizations for the provision of health services; know the main attributes of strategic thinking in health; master the concepts of strategic management and tactics; learn to define a strategic plan and identify the internal and external environment; use management tools in the analysis of problems and decision-making; demonstrate ability to intervene in logistics in health; be familiar with the field of diagnosis and organizational change and management policies and practices of people.

Syllabus

Part I - Theoretical paradigms of management; Strategic management; Management support tools.

Part II – Supply and stock management; Methods and techniques for analysis and forecasting of consumption, supply costs and economic management of stocks; The supply and information and communication technologies.

Part III-contextual and strategic Factors, policies and practices of personnel management: reforms in the management of health services; Policies and management practices: recruiting and selection; training and development; motivation, performance evaluation; wrapping systems (communication); internal promotions; safety at work and the psychological contract; Results management procedures: organizational commitment, awareness of interactional justice, procedural and distributive justice, job satisfaction, work-life balance, sense of organizational citizenship, and intentions to stay or leave.
