Teaching Methods

Teaching methodologies are based on continuous assessment by means of one test, works in groups and face-to-face presentations and conferences proffered by invited guests from regulated regulatory sectors or researchers on the issues addressed.   

Learning Outcomes

Course of applied Industrial Economics based on several issues about Economics of Regulation.  Students must be able to:

(i) Justify economic regulation

(ii) Identify market failures

(iii) Manipulate the mechanisms of natural monopoly regulation

(iv) Understand regulation with asymmetric information

(v) Appreciate the consequences of the regulatory reform of network industries

(vi) Make applications to some utilities

Students must also develop the following generic competencies: ability to orally and written communication, and ability to work in groups.
