Methods of Investigation in Geology

Recommended Prerequisites

The student must have academic knowledge in the area of Geosciences given by attendance, with approval, in curricular units of the 1st cycle in Geology or of 2nd cycles from the Geosciences areas and he/she must understand the Portuguese language. 

Teaching Methods

Presentation by specialists, of themes focusing Research Methods in Geology using the expositive methodology or the laboratories from the Earth Sciences Department- FCTUC. Bibliographic research and will be also done by the students.

Learning Outcomes

The objectives of this curricular unit are the increase and development of knowledge of the students in the research methods used in the several scientific areas of Geology.

Lectures in thematic modules of geology, focused on processes, techniques, results and errors, related in each of the research areas in the Department of Earth Sciences – Univ. Coimbra, in the form of theoretical and practical teaching.
