It is a course unit of the doctoral program in which the final report is publically discussed and evaluated by a panel, according to the PhD Regulation of the University of Coimbra.

Learning Outcomes

Presentation of a written work, where the subject to be investigated in the doctoral thesis is described. The scientific theme of the doctoral thesis should be contextualized and the state of the art and the perspective evolution of the knowledge in the area should be given. A research plan should be given stressing the potential contribution for the actual state of the art as well the methodology to be followed.
